Twelve researchers applying for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships
Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne Project Office, in collaboration with CNRS and IRD organized a Masterclass for candidates interested in applying for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme (MSCA PF), which took place from May 19 to 23, 2025, at Campus Condorcet in Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships
These European Union funded fellowships offer young doctoral candidates the opportunity to undertake postdoctoral research for two to three years in one of the 37 research units at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. These prestigious fellowships enable them to pursue their research in a foreign country, acquire new skills, and develop their careers.
The Masterclass enables the teams from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and CNRS to share resources and advice PhD candidates, thereby strengthening their applications for the highly competitive European fellowships.
Twelve candidates from over seven different countries
The international nature of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship was highlighted during the Masterclass. The candidates completed their theses in five different countries and mentioned more than ten countries when describing their careers. To be eligible, the candidates must either come from a foreign country or commit to spending at least one year outside the European Union before returning to France.
Interdisciplinarity was also a key element of the Masterclass. The candidates came from various disciplines within the human and social sciences, such as law, economics, history, sociology, philosophy, etc. and wished to join eight research units at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne: ACTE, CES, CESSP, IHMC, IREDIES, ISJPS, Orient et Méditerranée and PRODIG.
A week at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne
Various sessions were held during the week. The organizing team led five workshops, and the program included writing sessions, as well as presentations and discussions on all aspects of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships. During each workshop, participants were set exercises to help them think through all the key points of the application, both independently and in groups. Each candidate was in contact with a research supervisor from a research unit, and two meetings with the supervisor and their team were scheduled. Lastly, the week ended with talks and discussions with laureates, supervisors and assessors.
Next steps
The application deadline is 10 September 2025. In the meantime, candidates supervised by Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne will benefit from new exchanges and feedback from the university’s project office. Results will be announced in February 2026, with successful applicants joining the university in summer 2026.
The Masterclass aims to support applicants in the highly competitive project application process; the European success rate for the last edition was 16.61%. In 2024, three of the nine candidates supported by the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne Projects Office were awarded the fellowship, while two unsuccessful candidates were awarded the seal of excellence, recognizing high-quality projects.
